March: Apprenticeship Tips

February saw the launch of our #ApprenTIPS feature across our social media platforms. This is a new feature that involves sharing weekly advice, tips and tricks for the benefit of aspiring young apprentices. So we’ve compiled all of our #ApprenTIPS for March…

Apprenticeship Tip #1 – Check emails regularly

So the first of our March #ApprenTIPS is to check emails regularly. If you have applied for an apprenticeship with us and there has been an update with your application, we often contact you via email. That’s why it’s a great idea to regularly check your email inbox.

This might seem like a no-brainer, but it’s important. Make sure you’re checking every day to stay on top of your application.

Apprenticeship Tip #2 – Update your CV regularly

So you’ve found the perfect apprenticeship, but is your CV ready to be sent? Our second piece of advice was to update your CV regularly. It’s the best way to make sure you’re always prepared. So when you find that apprenticeship you’ve been looking for, you can apply for it straight away!

Apprenticeship Tip #3 – Set yourself goals

Do you set goals? Our third #ApprenTIP is to set yourself goals. Actively doing this gives you something to work towards. It might be to update your CV by the end of this week, or find and apply for an apprenticeship by the end of next week.

You can set goals for anything, it doesn’t have to be related to your career or educational development. But setting some form of goal to work towards really helps you stay on track.

Apprenticeship Tip #4 – Learn a new skill

Constantly adding to your skillset not only develops you as both a person and an employee, but it makes you more employable. That’s why our fourth recommendation is to learn a new skill. The more skills you have, the more chance you have of standing out from the competition. It’s a great way to boost your application.

Try and find an area that you could develop, identify a skill that you could learn to do and then take the necessary steps to learn. You’ll thank us later

Apprenticeship Tip #5 – Actively volunteer

Are you looking to boost your application when applying for an apprenticeship? The final of our #ApprenTIPS for March will help. It is to actively volunteer. If you’re struggling to make your application stand out, consider doing some volunteer work. It’s a great way for you to gain some valuable experience that many of your peers will not have.

Volunteering work varies hugely, so find something you enjoy. Complete some unpaid work for a local business; contact your local council and volunteer to do some litter picking; spend the Easter holidays walking dogs at a local kennel. Choose whatever you like! Whatever activity you choose, volunteering is a great way to gain some helpful experience.

Our #ApprenTIPS will continue to be released weekly across our social media platforms, so make sure you’re checking regularly. Follow us on Instagram here if you’re not already!

We are currently working with some fantastic businesses to provide the best apprenticeships, so if you’re looking to find yours then view them here.
